Napa Group was born in 1986. The name is homage to the wine from California’s Napa Valley that the firm’s original members, clients, and advisors loved to consume. Back then it was Chardonnay; we've all matured and now it's cabernets, zins, and blends including petite syrah and merlot.
Our clients are some of the largest, most prestigious, global financial institutions. Rather than provide a complete, generic solution for an entire trading floor, our software will optimize the functionality of a specific trading desk or department. Firms including Bank of America, CS First Boston, Citicorp, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Salomon Smith Barney, UBS, and Westdeutsche Landesbank use solutions from Napa Group, LLC.
Napa has always focused on delivering value immediately and efficiently. The larger the project, the more we break it down into quickly deliverable units. Everyone wins, and everyone wins sooner. Once a spec is approved, our programmers won’t hole up for six months; our motto is "get it to the user" and our approach is iterative. Our experience is that the best applications are developed with continual feedback from the users. Our approach is to maximize that feedback.
Actually, most of our new work comes by word of mouth. As clients leave one Wall Street firm and join another, they tend to bring Napa along with them. The majority of our current clients have been with Napa for over 7 years. Our first client is still with us after 14 years. Heading up our sales force is sort of a boring job so, yes, you can have it.
